About Us

A New Chapter on The Hill: The Gian-Tony’s Legacy Continues

Welcome to Gian-Tony’s Ristorante, a cornerstone of St. Louis’s historic Hill neighborhood. On December 1, 2025, the Catarinicchia family passed the torch to new owners Joe and Dominic Bergfeld. While the faces at the helm have changed, our commitment to authentic Italian hospitality remains as steadfast as the neighborhood we call home.

Deep Roots in the Neighborhood

For the Bergfeld family, this isn’t just a business—it’s a homecoming. Our ties to The Hill span generations:

  • A Lifelong Connection: Jean Bergfeld (Joe’s wife) grew up just one block west of the restaurant, spending her first 25 years in the heart of this community. Both of Jean’s parents, Al and Rachel Migneco, lived their entire lives on The Hill as well. Today, that legacy continues as both Dominic and Maria (Joe’s daughter) currently reside on The Hill.
  • St. Ambrose Traditions: The Bergfeld family are lifelong parishioners of St. Ambrose. From Dominic, Maria, Sofia, and Jean to Grandmother Rachel Migneco, the family has walked the halls of St. Ambrose grade school for decades.
  • Community Service: Joe has proudly served on the St. Ambrose finance committee for over 20 years, and his daughter, Maria, continues the family legacy by teaching at the school today.

Honoring the Past, Building the Future

As we transition toward our new identity, Fiore’s on The Hill—named in honor of Joe’s mother’s maiden name—we are dedicated to preserving what you love. We have retained the entire original staff and the legendary recipes of former owner and Executive Chef Tony Catarinicchia. You can still enjoy the soul-warming Southern Italian flavors Tony brought with him from Sicily.

What’s on the Horizon

While we are keeping the flavors you crave, we are excited to introduce some modern touches to enhance your dining experience. Soon, guests will enjoy a brand-new backyard patio and elegant interior upgrades. We will also begin introducing cherished Bergfeld family recipes to the menu, blending our family’s heritage with Tony’s classic Sicilian foundation.
